  5. BASIC REQUIREMENTS
  6. ------------------

  8. Designer's Club images require application(s) that are compatible
  9. with the EPS file format. EPS images are saved as Adobe Illustrator
  10. 1.1 files. Any other hardware requirements will be based
  11. primarily on the applications you use and the type of final
  12. output you plan to produce. For best results, your printer should
  13. be PostScript compatible.
  14.  
  15. All documentation assumes you have a basic understanding of how
  16. to use your computer and the programs you have purchased for it.
  17.  
  18. ART SELECTION
  19. -------------
  20. ** Printed Pictorial Index **
  21. This provides thumbnail and file name for each image in
  22. the issue.
  23.  
  24. A WARNING TO COLOR USERS
  25. ------------------------
  26. The nature of color in desktop publishing is unpredictable. The
  27. way a color image looks on screen does not necessarily reflect
  28. the way it will look when it is printed, and different output
  29. devices and types of paper may produce different results. We
  30. recommend that you contact your service bureau and printer so
  31. that they can insure the kind of color reproduction you need.

  33. USING THE CLIP ART
  34. ------------------
  35. ** PAGE LAYOUT PROGRAMS **
  36. Open your page layout program, create a new document and place
  37. the EPS files as you would any other pictures. The following
  38. page layout programs are compatible with the EPS file format:
  39.  *PageMaker
  40.  *QuarkXpress
  41.  *Corel Ventura
  42.  
  43. ** DRAW PROGRAMS **
  44. Start your draw program, then Open or Import the EPS file. These
  45. images can be manipulated like any other EPS image. The
  46. following draw programs are compatible with the EPS file format:
  47.  *Adobe Illustrator (Open EPS images)
  48.  *FreeHand (Open EPS images)
  49.  *Corel Draw! (Open EPS images. Import as file type Adobe 
  50.   Illustrator 1.1, 88, 3.0 [*.ai, *.eps])
  51. Many of your Designer's Club EPS images are provided as layered
  52. illustrations. This means that several elements can be lifted
  53. out of a single image and used as stand-alone artwork. In order
  54. to pull apart or separate the layers of an EPS file, a PostScript
  55. drawing program is necessary.

  57. If your application was not listed above, please refer to your
  58. manual for compatibility.
